Policy Statement

Participation in sport can provide opportunities to experience &
develop many desirable qualities. Such experiences might include,
enjoyment, personal achievement, self esteem & self confidence,
teamwork, social skills & leadership qualities. These experiences
will be enhanced if those working with the participants have as
their priority, the welfare & safety of the participants regardless
of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religious belief or
racial origin.

Most children & vulnerable persons are well cared for & have
happy trusting relationships with adults. However it must be
acknowledged that, some less fortunate individuals do suffer some
form of abuse: - PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, SEXUAL or
NEGLECT.

LUYFC recognises the moral & legal responsibilities of the club to
protect young people & vulnerable persons from any form of abuse.
To that end the club has in place dynamic management systems to
ensure control of those situations which may arise in the scenario
of team sporting activities or associated club functions to ensure
the rights, dignity & worth of every participant is respected, these
management systems are held by selected coaching staff & board
members.

All Leedstown United Youth Football Club child protection policies are in
line with, The Football Association - Child Protection Procedures
and Practices, the policy handbook of which is held by several club
& committee officials.

The Football Association Child Protection regulation opening
paragraph defines child abuse as: -

Any act, statement, conduct or other matters which harms a child or
children, or poses or may pose a risk of harm to a child or children,
shall constitute behaviour which is improper & brings the game into
disrepute.
